Hero Fire Spray and Baking soda/Flour/Salt

Baking soda can be used to put out grease fires, but it takes a significant amount to effectively extinguish the fire. An alternative is the Hero Fire Spray. It is a compact and easy-to-use fire suppressant that works well on small fires. It is also easy to carry and store. The spray uses a biodegradable formulation that is not caustic and will not damage materials or surfaces when used.

Hero Fire Spray and Lid

Covering a fire in a container with a lid or pan is an appropriate strategy, as it can effectively smother the fire. However, it can be dangerous as it may not provide enough protection from the flames as you lower the cover. Using the Hero Fire Spray reduces this risk, as it allows you to tackle the fire from a safe distance. It is important to first turn off the source of heat if possible. This mini fire suppressor can effectively handle small fire accidents and prevent them from escalating into bigger disasters.

Is it safe to leave the Hero Fire Spray inside the car?

Storing the Hero Fire Spray in cars is not recommended as they lack environmental controls for temperature regulation (heat and cold). It is important to store the product in a location that is protected from extreme heat (above 120F) and freezing temperatures.

Hero Fire Spray and Wet towel

An alternative is a damp towel, however, this takes time to prepare, giving the fire potential to become out of control. The Hero Fire Spray is incredibly simple to operate. Simply pull the tab on top of the can, aim the can at the base of the fire, and squeeze the trigger. That easy! This allows their safe operation during an emergency with a minimal amount of training.

The agent is good surface-safe, but I wouldn't suggest eating the food that has been sprayed on by this product (or any other fire extinguisher product in general).

Isn’t recommended by fire prevention entities that aerosol extinguishers not be used for stovetop applications, especially grease/oil fires in that it creates a bigger hazard in that the high-pressure spray can propel the burning liquid all over the place including back towards the person using the aerosol?

The definition of aerosol is a substance enclosed under pressure and able to be released as a fine spray, typically by propellant gas. This definition would apply to chemical powder extinguishers as well as our foaming extinguishers. As a note, the material in the Hero Fire Spray is NSF (food surface safe) and not caustic-like powder.

It depends on the severity of the individual's rheumatoid arthritis and their ability to grip and squeeze the trigger of the fire spray. If they have difficulty gripping, they may need to use an adapted tool to assist them in squeezing the trigger.
